Joining Wett Ones

Wett Ones Swimming Club conducts swimming training sessions for those who wish to get fit, keep fit and improve their swimming.  We are a club run by its swimmers for its swimmers. Our coaches are also members and regularly swim with the club too.

What to expect

Swimmers of all standards are welcome - although prospective members must be able (as a minimum) to:

  • Swim 100m freestyle non stop, 2 laps of an Olympic sized pool.

  • Swim 1km (20 laps) freestyle in an hour, using correct breathing with head down.

  • Be confident swimming freestyle along with either breaststroke or backstroke.

  • Attend one of our 1hr free Introductory sessions, held every two months.

Wett Ones is a welcoming club and:

  • Swim at your own pace — our members enjoy a wide range of abilities and speeds.

  • You can choose the strokes you enjoy, while we can help you work on those that haven’t been your favourite.

  • Whatever your current fitness level, our qualified coaches will support and encourage your progress.

  • We regularly compete in races and welcome everyone to join in, while some members simply train for fitness — both are equally valued.

Intro sessions

All new swimmers are required to attend a free introductory session where one of our coaches will assess whether our swimming program is appropriate for you to start swimming with us. It also will provide you an opportunity to ask questions and get an idea of what our club is about.

The next free introductory session is scheduled for Sunday 14 September between 3.30pm to 5pm at Prince Alfred Park pool (located near Sydney Central Station). Please register to the next intro session via our booking page here. Once booked, more details about what to expect during the session will be sent via email. If you have any questions, please contact registrar@wettones.org

After your introductory session you are then entitled to three (3) free trial swims with Wett Ones. After your intro session and trial swims you must become a member of the club via NSW Masters Swimming to continue swimming. See below for more information.

To use these three (3) free swims please ensure you use the following three codes (1FREE, 2FREE then 3FREE) in ‘Package, gift, or coupon code’ when booking via our booking page here. We currently offer seven (7) sessions during the week that new swimmers are able to attend, however we recommend quieter sessions on Friday night and Sunday afternoon while finding your pace.

Note: Saturday sessions are not available to new swimmers as there are no coaches on deck.

These sessions include coaching to help participants improve their technique and fitness in the water. If you would like to receive more information about these sessions, please email women@wettones.org

Competitions

If you are interested in racing, you can join some of our club members who compete in Masters competitions and Ocean Races. Masters competitions range from local branch meets, and NSW State championships to National, and World Championships. These can be both short course (25m pool) or long course (50m pool). There is at least one competition a month and a lot of them are local, so it is very easy to try one. Once a year our club organises a Swim Meet as well.

See NSW Master Swimming competition calendar for entry details or email our race secretary at race_secretary@wettones.org to find out more.

As for Ocean Races - there will be Facebook events in our Wett Ones Members Facebook Group where you can connect with people registered for various ocean races and ocean swims.

Are you visiting Sydney?

If you are a member of Masters Swimming Australia or of an IGLA-affiliated team visiting Sydney for a short period of time, you are welcome to train and socialize with us during your stay. To arrange your access and to receive information on how to book your training, please email registrar@wettones.org
