How to book a session

For new swimmers:

  • All new swimmers are required to attend a Free Introductory Session. This allows our coaching team time to introduce you to how a Wett Ones training session works. Find out more about Wett Ones training sessions on our About Us page.

  • Our next introductory session will be held Sun 7 April 2024 (Sunday, 4PM at Sydney University Sport & Fitness). Book here.

  • After your Introductory Session you are then entitled to three (3) free swims with Wett Ones before you are required to become a paying member.

  • To use these three (3) free swims please ensure you use the following three codes when booking: 1FREE, 2FREE then 3FREE

  • Saturday sessions are not available to new swimmers as no coaches are on deck.

  • At your first session, arrive 15 minutes early, look for our coaches and introduce yourself.

Any questions please email info@wettones.org

Our Booking System:

  • You must book a place to swim with us before arriving at the pool.

  • Unfortunately, the booking system does not support refunds – however, you do have the ability to reschedule your sessions if need be.

  • You can book a session up to a week in advance.

  • When you use the system for the first time, and successfully book a session, you are given the option to create an account. If you select this option and create a password, you can book future sessions without needing to re-enter all of your details and reschedule upcoming sessions.

  • For safety reasons we limit the number of swimmers per lane. Our booking system calculates spaces based on pool space and configuration.

  • If you are not booked into a session via the booking system you will not be allowed to swim.

Your Safety

All of our coaches are trained and certified in CPR. However, everyone around the pool including swimmers have a shared responsibility for safety. Swimmer responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Swimmers must obey the rules of the facilities where training is held.

  • Swimmers must not enter the pool until their coach gives them permission to do so.

  • Swimmers should follow the directions of their coach at all times.

  • If you see someone doing something unsafe, or an unsafe situation, please notify your coach.

  • Should you find yourself requiring assistance in the pool then hold onto the lane rope and raise your hand. Responsible swimmers will be in the pool and able to assist you. By raising your hand this will alert your coach that you are having difficulty and may be in need of medical assistance.

  • While jewellery constitutes a danger for swimmers and is not allowed at Wett Ones training sessions, it is recognised that certain sports watches have evolved to a point where they pose little risk of harm while providing immediate and longer term information of value to the coach and swimmer.
Those with slimline sports watches, such as Apple Watches or similar, who wish to wear these during training may ask permission from that session’s coach to wear the device for that session.
Please note that this is not an automatic authority: coaches are tasked with ensuring a safe training environment, and an effective coaching experience, for all, and the decision is at the end of the day an individual one. On the basis of the device being bulky or having sharp edges, or in situations where the coach is concerned distraction will impact the value of the session for the swimmer concerned, they may still request the device is removed for the session.
It is also worthy of note that Masters Swimming Australia continues to have a ban on such devices in competition.

All about our training sessions

Safety

The health and safety of our swimmers is of utmost importance to us. Be sure to tell your coach if you have any soreness or injuries.

Choosing the right lane

Our coaches will place you in a lane with other swimmers of a similar ability. If you’re doing a rep and feel that you could swim faster, let the person in front know you’d like to pass.

New terminology

There’s lots of terminology to get used when training with a squad. Check out out glossary with all the words and their meaning.

Bring your kit

We often use flippers and kick-boards so bring along all your pool toys to each session. You never know what drills the coaches have in mind, so best be prepared!

The training set

The coach will explain each part of your set and use a whiteboard on the pool deck to write up the program. This will help you understand the reps, sets and recovery times.

Be on time.

We start the sessions right on their starting time. Please respect the coaches and your training partners by turning up on time.

Some of our club members regularly compete in NSW Masters Swimming competitions and ocean races, but that’s entirely up to you. If you just want to join our club to keep fit in a friendly group training environment then welcome aboard.

Competitions are generally once per month and each year there is a state short course (25m pool) and state long course (50m pool) championships. Before COVID some members were regularly travelling interstate for national and international competitions.

See NSW Master Swimming competition calendar for entry details.
